Home Care Services Lawrenceville, GA

Poor Sleep

As people age, their sleep patterns can be disrupted, causing them to wake up multiple times during the night. This can be due to a shift in their internal body clock, stress, or worry. If dementia is a factor, you may need to be vigilant, as sundowning and wandering could occur. Caring for your parents or a loved one requires a clear and rested mind, which is why getting enough sleep is essential for both your well-being and your ability to provide the best care. After all, you don't want to get so burnt out and tired that you take a trip to the hospital. Avoid getting burnt out and exhausted, as it could lead to a trip to the hospital.

Lack of Support

Taking care of aging parents can feel overwhelming and like you're shouldering the entire brunt of responsibility. Moreover, thinking that you're the sole caregiver can be stressful and put unneeded strain on other relationships in your life. It's crucial to understand that caregiving is not a one-person task. Trying to handle it alone can lead to burnout, depression, and other serious health issues. It can also negatively impact the quality of care your parents receive.

Senior Assistance Lawrenceville, GA

No Privacy

Living with your parents can affect both your physical and emotional privacy, especially if one or both need significant amounts of attention. This can lead to feelings of fear and disorientation when you're not around. Similarly, it can be challenging for your parents to maintain their own privacy while you're taking care of them.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A Gwinnett County restaurant owner is fighting to stay open and leaning on the community to get her through the battle of a lifetime.

LaShonia Turner, the owner of Scrum-Did-Dly-Ump-Tious, opened up the restaurant in Downtown Lawrenceville nearly two years ago. The venture tested her resolve every step of the way, even forcing her to close down her longtime hair salon.

"We had theft here, we had a fire for 10 weeks here, where people were out of work. We were still trying to figure out ways to get people paid by taking other jobs off-site," Tuner said.

A year of loss gave way to even more surprises to begin 2025. Turner said she felt a pain in her side.

"I just remember zoning out," she recalled.

A doctor diagnosed Turner with cancer.

"I thought about my kids, and I thought about my grandkids, and I have little bitty grand babies that just got here and I'm thinking, 'Lord, I have so much more work to do. Not now. Why, why me?' All of that.'" she said.

However, every fighter needs to heal. And every fighter needs a community to get them through the tough times.

"I'll have days where I cry. There'll be days I'll scream. That doesn't mean I don't believe. It just means I'm human," Turner added.

Co-owner Aasiya Muslim, the staff and her neighbors are stepping up, even as Turner steps back and leans on family to get her through the fight for her life.

"For that, I won't give up and that's why I fight as hard as I do to keep the doors open. If she never steps foot back in here because she needs to heal, I'll be here for the both of us," Muslim said.

"We're still striving, we're not going down without a fight," Turner added.

An online fundraiser has been set up to support Turner, click here to learn more.

What is the best internet provider in Lawrenceville?

AT&T Fiber is the best choice for home internet in Lawrenceville and the wider Atlanta region. It offers the highest internet speeds available in Lawrenceville, reaching up to 5,000 megabits per second. It is also the sole significant wired provider in the vicinity, providing unlimited data, complimentary equipment rental and no contractual obligations.

While they don't necessarily have the same speed potential and perks as AT&T Fiber, Spectrum and Xfinity are also top choices for internet in Lawrenceville. Spectrum has better availability, while Xfinity has the cheapest internet plan, with service starting at $35 monthly for download speeds up to 150Mbps.

If you’re looking for an alternative to the big cable and fiber internet providers, fixed wireless service from T-Mobile Home Internet or Verizon 5G Home Internet may be an option. Verizon has a faster speed potential, but T-Mobile Home Internet has far better availability in Lawrenceville. Both providers offer exclusive discounts for qualifying mobile customers.

What’s a good internet speed?

Most internet connection plans can now handle basic productivity and communication tasks. If you're looking for an internet plan that can accommodate videoconferencing, streaming video or gaming, you'll have a better experience with a more robust connection. Here's an overview of the recommended minimum download speeds for various applications, according to the FCC. Note that these are only guidelines and that internet speed, service and performance vary by connection type, provider and address.

For more information, refer to our guide on how much internet speed you really need.

How CNET chose the best internet providers in Lawrenceville

Internet service providers are numerous and regional. Unlike the latest smartphone, laptop, router or kitchen tool, it’s impractical to personally test every ISP in a given city. What’s our approach? We start by researching the pricing, availability and speed information, drawing on our own historical ISP data, the provider sites and mapping information from the Federal Communications Commission at FCC.gov.

It doesn’t end there: We go to the FCC’s website to check our data and ensure we consider every ISP that provides service in an area. We also input local addresses on provider websites to find specific options for residents. We look at sources, including the American Customer Satisfaction Index and J.D. Power, to evaluate how happy customers are with an ISP’s service. ISP plans and prices are subject to frequent changes; all information provided is accurate as of publication.

Once we have this localized information, we ask three main questions:

The answer to those questions is often layered and complex, the providers who come closest to “yes” on all three are the ones we recommend. When selecting the cheapest internet service, we look for the plans with the lowest monthly fee, although we also factor in things like price increases, equipment fees, and contracts. Choosing the fastest internet service is relatively straightforward. We look at advertised upload and download speeds and consider real-world speed data from sources like Ookla (Disclosure: Ookla is owned by the same parent company as CNET, Ziff Davis) and FCC reports.
