Home Care Services Bolingbroke, GA

Poor Sleep

As people age, their sleep patterns can be disrupted, causing them to wake up multiple times during the night. This can be due to a shift in their internal body clock, stress, or worry. If dementia is a factor, you may need to be vigilant, as sundowning and wandering could occur. Caring for your parents or a loved one requires a clear and rested mind, which is why getting enough sleep is essential for both your well-being and your ability to provide the best care. After all, you don't want to get so burnt out and tired that you take a trip to the hospital. Avoid getting burnt out and exhausted, as it could lead to a trip to the hospital.

Lack of Support

Taking care of aging parents can feel overwhelming and like you're shouldering the entire brunt of responsibility. Moreover, thinking that you're the sole caregiver can be stressful and put unneeded strain on other relationships in your life. It's crucial to understand that caregiving is not a one-person task. Trying to handle it alone can lead to burnout, depression, and other serious health issues. It can also negatively impact the quality of care your parents receive.

 Senior Assistance Bolingbroke, GA

No Privacy

Living with your parents can affect both your physical and emotional privacy, especially if one or both need significant amounts of attention. This can lead to feelings of fear and disorientation when you're not around. Similarly, it can be challenging for your parents to maintain their own privacy while you're taking care of them.

BOLINGBROKE, Ga. — The Bolingbroke Christmas parade is on Saturday. Vicki Smith says it began over 30 years ago with humble beginnings.

“We saw the kids pulling the wagons on Rivoli over there and we said what are you doing and they said we're having a parade and we said let's grow this parade and let our town be known," she recalled.

Smith is an Associate Broker at Properties Plus Realty by day and an elf in her spare time. She ran this event for 20 years.

And she says they still let the little guys dress up their animals and walk the route.

"We love that people ride their horses and dress them up and they're jingling and jangling down the road,” she said.

And speaking of a little jingle jangle, the guy with a snow-white beard and a twinkle in his eye loves to ride in at the end on a bass boat.

“Actually, I think he really likes our parade. I think this is one of the highlights of his year, so it's easy for him to come here," she said with a grin.

The event will play out on Rivoli Road where it's not as busy as Highway 41.

Businesses — especially ones that deck the halls — could see a Christmas bonus since typically 1,500 people show up in this town of about 500.

Halei Watson owns Watson’s Mercantile.

“We love it and people come and the kids love it. It really gets everyone in the Christmas spirit,” she said.

Watson loves the holiday season and her store has tones of green and red.

“Everyone loves to come to Bolingbroke and see something new and we're really that small town and you get that small-town feel,” she explained.

Bernie Blanche of Blanche Farms Meats will roll out a ribeye in a flash and he expects to see customers come in for snacks.

“This year it's a little earlier and we expect the people to be flowing and we'll have some chili going and we've got draft beers and things of that nature,” he said.

If Santa wants to trade hot chocolate for something a little stronger like draft beer, Blanche is ready.

“Of course. Santa gets a discount,” he chuckled.

It's a little something for everyone. Santa-approved, kid-friendly and a good time for elves no matter what age you are.

At the end of the parade, Santa will stick around and have children on his lap to listen to their wishes.

That will happen at the Bolingbroke clubhouse next to the fire station.

And you'll want to get there early to get a good parking space.

Businesses along Highway 41 will let you park in their lots, but they fill up fast.

BOLINGBROKE, Ga. — Do you remember your first Christmas? Do you have cute memories from your child's first time receiving presents?

The Bolingbroke Community Club is working to create a special first Christmas for one infant, 9-month-old Na'Lani Proctor.

Her mother is Toriyahna Proctor, who was found strangled at Lake Juliette back in March.

Her boyfriend, Jadarius Watts, is charged with murdering her.

The folks in Bolingbroke are still in mourning, remembering her legacy.

'Tori did so much for the parents and children in this community by taking care of them down at Little Angels Daycare," says Brandy Bankston-Boynton.

Now, she and Greggory Phillips, the Bolingbroke Community Club co-presidents, are working to take care of Tori's child.

The Bolingbroke Christmas Parade is Saturday, and Na'Lani will be crowned the first Honorary Little Miss Christmas Bolingbroke.

"This is our way to show that it really takes a community to raise a child," says Phillips

They say she'll ride in the parade, and she will receive a bunch of gifts that the community has donated to her.

"It's her first Christmas, so why not go above and beyond for her?" says Phillips.

They say many folks have brought in gifts for Na'Lani because they are a close-knit community.

"It's something she may not remember, but we hope the memories for her family and the photos that we can take and provide for her will be a lasting memory for her," says Bankston-Boynton.

Her friends and coworkers at Little Angels Daycare are still heavily mourning the loss of Tori.

"For people to be still acknowledging her and her daughter, it's heartwarming. Her name will forever live on through her daughter. That's just so comforting," says Khaliyah Alexander with tears.

Alexander was close friends with Tori, and she says she had known her for several years.

"She was so fun. She loved to dance and laugh. Dancing and laughing was her thing," she says describing Tori.

Alexander says to see people supporting Na'Lani is amazing.

"She deserves it, she needs that right now," says Alexander

Everyone on staff, says they can't wait to see the Little Miss in the parade.

"She just looks so much like Tori, and you can tell they're just keeping her spirit alive, and the community is. I just hope that she has a phenomenal Christmas," says Megan Moore.

"I hope that she has the biggest, best first Christmas, because she's only going to have one first Christmas. I know she's going to be so beautiful in that parade," adds Alexander.

The Proctor family says they're very grateful for all the support from the community during this time.

You can support Na'Lani and see Santa in the Bolingbroke Christmas Parade on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.

Phillips says you can still help give Na'Lani a special Christmas by bringing wrapped gifts to the club at 9 a.m. Saturday before the parade.

The parade will include food, and refreshments from the local businesses like Southern Charm, Pinky's Shaved Ice, and Blanche Farm Meats, and others.

BOLINGBROKE, Ga. — A new custom furniture shop is now open for business in Bolingbroke.

Denise Moxley is the owner of Moxley’s Handcrafted. She owns and operates the spot alongside her husband, Troy. They opened the shop the second week in April at 6217 Dixie Highway.

“It was amazing. Lots of family and friends and local people around here were very supportive,” Denise said.

Moxley’s makes and sells all their furniture in-house. People can come in and request anything custom from shiplap, beams, tables, mirrors, and picture frames to charcuterie boards, cutting boards, rolling kitchen islands, and cabinetry.

“You name it. It’s made of wood, we can build it,” she said.

Denise says if someone comes in and finds something they like, but they want it in a different color or different size, they can customize a piece specifically for them. Everything is handmade.

“If you have old wood that your grandparents left up under their house and you want something to do with it; my husband owns a sawmill. We can take it to the sawmill, we can cut it down to what size you want it, build what you want out of it, and put it in your home,” she said.

The couple started planning for the store opening since the end of 2020, building and storing furniture. With the help of some friends, Troy took two weeks to build Moxley Handcrafted’s entire showroom just in time to open for the spring.

“We believe that you use what God gave you and God gave my husband the ability to make anything with wood,” Denise said.

Her husband owns a construction company that builds houses. Because the market is high right now, the Moxley’s decided to make furniture.

“Most people are remodeling right now and not building,” she said.

It’s all about providing “beautiful furnishings” for people to put inside their remodeled homes. Denise says Moxley’s has competitive pricing for quality products, and pricing varies for each product.

“This is real wood. This is not something that you’re going to get at the furniture store that’s particle board. You’ll never give that to your grandchildren...this will be around forever,” she said.

Moxley's is open from Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Marrow 41 will serve casual comfort foods and steaks in a Southern country home atmosphere

BOLINGBROKE, Ga. — A new comfort food bar and grill is coming to Bolingbroke.

Marrow 41 is the latest restaurant venture by Cesare Mammarella and his chef partner, Jamie Waters.

Mammarella has had hands in Macon’s Brasserie Circa, Tic Toc Room, Barefoot Tavern and more.

“We’re anticipating it being something of a neighborhood bar and grill if you will. We’ll have some casual comfort food as well as some nicer steak selections,” Mammarella said. “Trying to create a comfy little bar on the inside.”

Mammarella says the restaurant’s building is a ‘Southern country style house’ that sits on half an acre of land and has a large porch.

“We’re trying to have the menu and the ambiance on the inside reflect the actual setting,” he said.

There will be three major rooms in the 2,000 square foot building – that includes the bar in the center and dining areas in the adjacent rooms.

“I mean, it looks like you’re going to your grandma’s house,” he said.

They’re in the process of developing an official menu for Marrow 41, but folks can expect to see classic comfort foods, like burgers, and some cuts of steak.

“It will be a casual setting. It’s not going to be business suits or anything super high-end,” he said.

Mammarella has over 20 years of restaurant experience in Central Georgia. He says Marrow 41 is different because he’s always had his eye on the former Miss Hattie’s Kitchen & Bakery location at 7248 Alexander Court.

“There’s just something charming about that whole Bolingbroke area,” he said.

If renovations go as planned, Mammarella expects Marrow 41 to be open to the public by the end of the year.

“I think that area is in need of something like this, so hopefully we’ll be able to fill the niche of what it is that they’re looking for,” he said.

After The Red Tomato closed in Bolingbroke, Miss Hattie’s Kitchen & Bakery took its place in the charming house at the end of Alexander Court until it too was shuttered in March of 2018.

Soon a third restaurant will open in the house, one of the only full-service restaurants in Bolingbroke.

Owners Cesare Mammarella and Jamie Waters plan to open Marrow 41, a casual American bistro, in the fall.

“It’s a picturesque setting, but we love the building. When the other two restaurants were there, I used to go just because of the setting up there,” Mammarella, the owner of Bearfoot Tavern, said. “I’m super excited because, like I said, I’ve loved that property for over 20 years. When I first came here, I used to go up there just because I loved the setting at that property, and it’s always been a goal of mine to open up a restaurant in a house, essentially.”

The closest eatery to the location is either on Bass Road in Macon or in Forsyth, Mammarella said, and the restaurant will be Bolingbroke’s first bar and grill, according to Marrow 41’s Facebook page.

“Jamie and I are both super excited to really try to bring something really interesting and new for that area,” he said.

The restaurant has around 50 seats for customers, so Mammarella said they will employ around 12-15 people.

Mammarella is a former owner of HotPlates Restaurant Group which had several restaurants, including the Tic Toc Room, Ginger Stir-Fry & Grill and Brasserie Circa.

“I feel like I’ve got a pretty good and loyal customer base. I think people are familiar with the type of product and service level that they’ll receive at this restaurant, and I’m hoping that that translates into the execution and the design and everything else with the restaurant,” Mammarella said.

Waters, the former executive chef at Grits Cafe in Forsyth, said Marrow 41 will be his first venture into owning a restaurant.

“It’s very exciting. It’s just an opportunity to learn another side of the business, which is also one of the things that Cesare presented to me in the beginning that made it so interesting. It’s not just being a chef,” he said.

They have started renovations on the restaurant, which has been vacant for more than a year, and Waters said he would like to open before the end of the year.

“I’m looking forward to it, just to be a part of the community again and be contributing and seeing people’s faces and watching people enjoy good times and share good times at the restaurant,” Waters said.
